In die Abgründe der menschlichen Seele lässt sich am besten dort blicken, wo es sonst nicht viel zu tun gibt: am Land. “Country”, wie der Amerikaner sagt. Hier regieren die Obsessionen, um die sich die Musik von Rewolfinger dreht: Trashiger Rock’n’Roll, Walzer und TexMex erzählen Ge- schichten von Liebe, Hass, Gottergebenheit, Tod und den tiefschwarzen Abgründen des Herzens. Man ahnt es schon: Rewolfinger spielen keinen Samstagabend-Country und Nashville ist weit entfernt.
Wo sich religiöser Wahn mit inzestuösen Phantasien ver- mischt und pubertierende Jungs es heimlich mit jenen Hühnern treiben, die später auf dem Sonntagstisch serviert werden, dort sind auch Rewolfinger zu Hause. Country, räu- dig wie der Punk, traurig wie der Totenmarsch.
Und weil das alles ja irgendwie auch gut zur österreichischen Seele passt, wundert sich der geneigte Zuhörer bald gar nicht mehr: Warum sollte denn der Wilde Westen nicht im Osten Österreichs zu Hause sein?
