The noises of the world confine us, stress is an ever constant companion. Day and night we are surrounded by the annoying sounds of traffic, industry, machines and people. In work and in play we are plagued by the communal sounds of our complex modern existence. Whether in the city or the country an ever increasing number of us suffer from the physical and mental strains that these sounds can cause.
It is with this backdrop that Paul Divjak’s album Aural Siesta takes shape, a sonic island of peace and contemplation which distances itself from the now popular wellness and esoteric music genres. A well deserved respite for the ear and brain, the body and soul. A sonic antidote against the stresses of daily life.
In these compositions Divjak disassembles the daily noises of our modern lifestyle taken from urban field recordings. Then he takes tiny micro samples of these sounds and places them within his own short piano soundbites constructing repetitive hypnotic patterns.
Through his own comforting frequencies, unhurriedness and laidback diversity, Aural Siesta exudes the peace and beauty of a Japanese garden. This environmentally friendly ambient album gives its listeners new perspectives to discover. Der Lärm der Welt umgibt uns, Stress prägt unseren Alltag. Tag und Nacht sind wir umgeben von den oft störenden Geräuschen von Verkehr, Industrie, Geräten und Menschen. In Arbeit und Freizeit plagen uns die Community Noises unserer komplexen modernen Lebenswelt. Ob in der Stadt oder auf dem Land – immer mehr von uns leiden am Lärm und der gesundheitlichen und nervlichen Belastung, die er auslösen kann.
Vor diesem Hintergrund nimmt Paul Divjaks lichtes Album Aural Siesta Gestalt an: eine sonore Insel der Ruhe und Kontemplation fernab der schalen Ästhetik der boomenden Wellness- und Esoterikmusikproduktionen. Eine Mittagspause für Ohr und
Hirn, Körper und Geist: eine akustische Impfvorsorge gegen die Ruhelosigkeit des Alltags. In seiner Komposition zerlegt Divjak alltägliche Geräusche auf Basis von urbanen Field Recordings in winzige Microsamples und versetzt diese mit eigens eingespielten, wiederum in kleinste Soundbits zerlegten Klavierparts zu repetitiven, hypnotischen Patterns.
Mit seinen angenehmen Frequenzen, seiner bewussten Langsamkeit und seiner unaufdringlichen Vielfarbigkeit strahlt Aural Siesta die Ruhe und Schönheit eines japanischen Gartens aus. Und wie ein solcher lässt sich dieses klangökologisch nachhaltige Ambient-Album auch aus verschiedensten Perspektiven entdecken und lesen.
